Hotel Medena

The Medena hotel is located 2.5 miles from the small museum-city of Trogir, in a 148 acres pine forest. A pleasant walk along the sea will take you to the small fishermen village of Seget.
Transfer from Split airport, 5 miles away, takes 10 minutes. The city of Split is 18 miles away.

Hotel guests are primarily German, Slovenian, Polish, and Italian.

Built in 1971 and renovated in 1997, the Medena includes three massive, 8-storey buildings. The lobby and the restaurant are in the central one-storey building, connecting with two lateral wings. In total, the hotel accommodates 1,300 persons in its 650 rooms and common areas, decorated in purple and brown leatherette. Sports courts and playgrounds are built in a large park planted with pine and cypress trees. An alley to the seashore divides the park in two. On the beach, there is a renowned scuba diving school, and an enormous 3-track blue slide.

Rooms are not very large (190 square feet) and only half of them have a television. Likewise, only the rooms located on the third floor have air conditioning. 90% of the rooms have a balcony. They are all overlooking the sea. Avoid rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors: the trees block the view. Bathrooms are small and have a shower. Decor is basic, but tasteful: white walls and wooden furniture. The 8 suites (320 square feet) have air conditioning, television, and a kitchenette. There is a parking area. There is a safe at the front desk.

The main restaurant is very large, and lacks light because of the pine trees. White walls, unpretentious furniture. The chef serves international and Croatian cuisine (fish or meat flavoured with olive oil and spices, often with a salad, Swiss chard, and potatoes). A well-stocked buffet is served for breakfast. There is also a pizzeria on the terrace, a grill restaurant and a fish restaurant on the beach. A snack bar.

The hotel's artificial beach is more like a small dock covered with large concrete slabs. It is, however, clean and pleasant, ideal for suntanning, but not recommended for children, because the slope into the water is steep. An enormous blue slide with three tracks, for experienced swimmers, is installed by the water (there is an extra charge for its use). There are also deckchairs (for a fee) and a nautical base.
