RestLocated in the residential area of the Upper West Side, the Beacon offers comfortable accommodations and a nice setting. If it is lacking facilities, it stands out for its rooms with their well-equipped kitchenettes.
At 2130 Broadway, between 74th and 75th Streets, in the Upper West Side district. Two blocks away West of Central Park. Not far from the New York Museum of Natural History The hotel is 12 miles away from La Guardia airport, 20 miles away from JFK, and 12 miles away from Newark. Near the subway stations 1, 2, 3, & 9.
All rooms at the hotel have beautiful kitchenettes with a tea/coffee set and a microwave oven. Moreover an open supermarket 24h a day is located just in front of it: the best way to save money in a city where eating is often outrageously expensive. The hotel has 80 permanent residents. Choose a room overlooking Central Park because, even if you do not see the park directly, the view is totally open. That side is also very quiet, which is also important.
The Beacon occupies a 24-storey building built in 1929, located in the middle of œ the pleasant Upper East Side district. It has 230 rooms - 120 standards and 110 suites. It includes a small fitted out lobby, a reception desk, a tourism information desk with a porter and a luggage room for late departures. Its decoration, rather standard, won't raise cries of either horror or admiration. The Beacon has few facilities, but it does have an automatic laundry. Its main flaw is the lack of dining facilities: there is no bar and no restaurant. Notice that all rooms at the Beacon have well equipped kitchenettes and that there are many restaurants around the facility, as well as a supermarket opened 24h a day, directly opposite.
All rooms are equipped with kitchenettes. They are quite large, considering New York standards. The decoration is quite ordinary - brown/pink tones, a bedspread and curtains with floral patterns. But there is comfort - thick carpeting, efficient soundproofing, comfortable bedding and many features: a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave oven, crockery and tea-coffee set, cable television (25 channels, pay-per-view movie channel), telephone, safe, individual air conditioning (a bit noisy), and bathroom with bathtub and hairdryer. No room-service.
