CharmA charming hotel just a few steps away from the railway station (very practical when you arrive here by train), a little away from the bus terminal (to get to the airport), 165 feet away from the Great Canal and in an animated area of Venice. This place is a good destination to keep in mind!
On Lista di Spagna , animated street that starts up from Santa Lucia railway (the Cannaregio district). The Great Canal (near the degli Scalzi bridge), is 165 feet from the hotel.
Vaporetto stop: Ferrovia.
The airport is 8 miles away. Take the bus from the Piazzale Roma, aside from the railway (a trip of about 30 minutes).
Shops and restaurants around the Belle Epoque, you are right beside the railroad, far from being cheap. If you want do eat Italian food and shop, you should go to Rio Terra San Leonardo, in the continuation of Lista di Spagna.
Lodging advice
The rooms are not very spacious and don't have a great view either. Attention, the units for 3 are fitted out with a convertible sofa whose springs have lost their elasticity. And the family rooms have 172 feetē...
The Belle Epoque opened in 2004. However, it is located in an older building. New Art details on the facade (wall lamps, carved initials) and in the common spaces (reception, corridor, dining-room). You should open your eyes, because what strikes you once you get inside, is the corridor-atrium (with a sun lounge) lighted up and decorated by imposing chandeliers made of Murano glass. A pot-bellied furniture with golden iron fittings furnishes the corridor with two old style armchairs. You would say you are in a special hotel. Gorgeous...
Attention, the rooms are not decorated this way.
39 rooms, not more: the hotel quickly becomes fully occupied. Out of the 39 rooms, there are 7 triple rooms. Since their size is only 172 feetē, you will feel cramped here. Before saying that the Venice hotels offer cramped accommodations, you should remember that the old buildings (from the 19th century more often) were not allowed to be built as apartments-rooms, they can only transform blocks of houses to a hotel. Venetian tradition is there. Striped red and gold tapestry, red carpet on the floor... You won't really like the green rooms, but this is also another typical colour in Venice. The facilities are simple - satellite TV, air-conditioning and direct telephone line. No minibar available. In the bathrooms, same size as the rooms, there is a shower available, a hair-dryer and a small soap. But the bathroom is impeccable.
The Belle Epoque does not serve breakfast but the dining-room is worth a visit. Walls with white wooden panels, golden threads and large old picket silvering Murano mirrors. Plus, there is a terrace-sundeck if you want to eat outside in summer time. However, the morning buffet is disappointing. Unless you like hard broiled eggs, tomato slices and cold cut. Or maybe the Italian croissants. Or maybe even the bread and the jam in individual portions. Certainly, it is not really Venetian to binge in the morning, but when traveling, the appetite sharpens... For coffee, forget the vending machine and ask for it to be brought to your table. It would be better.
