RestLocated along the west coast, the Sands Resort is a place to spend a vacation in a setting that offers more than beaches and coconut trees. It is ideal as a starting point to explore the island and its nature. It is also adapted to divide your time between tennis games and diving with mask and snorkel.

The hotel is located on the seafront, along the bay of Tamarin, 3 miles away from the village of Flic en Flac. The airport is 28 miles away. It takes about one hour to one hour and a half for transfer depending on the traffic in Port-Louis.
The hotel does not have facilities for children, so it is advisable to a clientele of couples coming to rest or do water sports.
Do not miss : a walk - or jogging - along the beach. You can go up to Tamarin on one side and to Flic en Flac on the other side, the part overlooking Tamarin being framed by the serrated peaks of the three Mamelles. A superb view at sunset.
Opened in 2001, the Sands Resort is characterised by a reception with a visible framework that extends through a passage with a similar architecture, and a semi-circular pool very next to the lagoon. A bouquet of amaryllis decorates the pedestal placed at the centre of the reception, while lounges installed on the side offer a sober Creole style with rattan sofas, sisal carpets and varnished wood table. On the outside, the swimming pool offers plenty of room for swimming. The space serving as a sun lounge installed on the perimeter is less spacious, but the beach is two steps away for those who prefer not to take a nap right next to their neighbour. The leisure amenities are of good quality: deckchairs in laminated iron, mattresses, canvas sunshades and towels.
The hotel has 92 rooms, including 1 suite. All the rooms offer a "deluxe" category because they are particularly spacious (52 mē ) and well equipped. To get the best view onto the lagoon, ask to be accommodated in the left wing in front of the sea. The remaining buildings, located more away, offer a partial view onto the sea because of the lush vegetation in the gardens. To make the most of facilities, it is advisable to book an accommodation on the ground floor in the left wing (for the terrace) and on the first floor elsewhere (the second, if possible, for its view from the balcony). The furniture made of rattan and varnished wood is simple and sober. The bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub, a shower, bathrobes and a hair-dryer. Small basket of personal skin care products available. Other amenities installed : air conditioning, satellite television (broadcasting 19 channels), telephone, a mini-bar and a tea / coffee kit.
The main restaurant is located in a crank along the gardens, overlooking the lagoon. It is a pity that the tables are a little tightly arranged, but you can always arrange to eat at the end of service, when there are fewer people. The buffets offer a reasonable range of dishes. A show-cooking stand can make for you pizzas upon request or omelettes in the morning. The other dishes allow you to taste Creole specialities ( chicken carry ) or international recipes ( salads, grillings, potatoes). To eat a more original cuisine, try the Spices, a restaurant serving a la carte with a terrace facing the sea. It offers refined and unusual dishes such as alligator massala in coconut milk, roasted pork spine cooked for 11 hours and palm heart salad .
The beach is built on 250 m x 100 m. It is planted with coconut trees and "coqueluches" (typical trees of the island). In the water, large heaps of lava stone mark the swimming area. Sitting on the sand, well maintained, you can watch the bay of Tamarin. It is one of the most beautiful places on the island for its largely unchanged nature. The water sports centre of the hotel offers a wide range of activities. Fans will not fail to try diving or game fishing (for extra payment).
