Icelandic dishes are exquisite, especially sea food, dairy products, lamp and reindeer meat. Traditional dishes on the other hand are quite difficult to digest, particularly for their prices; you will prefer to do the cooking than go to restaurants. (about 1 200 ISK/lunch and 2 100 ISK/dinner).
A few specialties:
Theskyr is a type of thick white cheese. It is sometimes mixed with
soft fruits.Smjörosturs are very frequent. These are prawn cheese or mushroom
cheese. The surmatur is a dish of offals or giblets: mutton, whale or
seal.The blodmör is a mutton pudding.
The brennivin is a delicious angelica-flavoured potato brandy.
