Icelandic landscapes are the fruit of intensive volcanic activities which, until recently, gave birth to new islands (like Surtsey in 1963). There are roughly 200 postglacial volcanoes and on average one eruption every five years. The best thing with volcanic and geothermal activity is that it supplies hot water to most of the territory. There are open-air pools everywhere, open from 7:00 to 22:00. Icelanders come to relax in water at 40°C contempleting the splendour of the island. Geysers, waterfalls, glaciers, lakes, fjords, lava lakes! You discover Iceland's splendid sights as you go round the island on foot, horse or bike, but also on snowmobiles and cross-country ski in winter.
