India has three main seasons: winter, summer and the monsoon season.
In Punjab and Haryana, winter or the dry season, from October to the beginning of March is the best period. Temperatures vary between 15 and 20°C. Nights may be cold, between 5 and 9°C, from November to February.
In summer from March to May, the heat is scorching (may reach 40°C). The first signs of the monsoon set in by May, ending with high humidity. Short, violent storms rage.
The monsoon lasts until September, ending with heavy rains and low temperatures. Generally, avoid this period, as you will encounter serious difficulties when travelling. Flights are cancelled, roads and railways are blocked.
