 Climate and Seasons

India has three main seasons: winter, summer and the monsoon period.
To visit Tamil Nadu, the period of January to September is preferable. In the plains and shores, temperatures during the day vary between 25-30°C, and at night about 15°C. In the mountainous areas, temperatures are colder and vary between 5 and 20°C.
In summer, from March to May ending, the heat is scorching. The first signs of the monsoon set in by May ending beginning June with high humidity. Short and violent storms are raging. Hills and mountains remain temperate with a cold climate, around 10 to 25°C.
The monsoon ends in September ending with torrential rains, but rains lightly reach the coastal, central and far south regions. In general, owing to the scorching heat in the south of the country, avoid this period. You will have difficulties moving around India. Flights are cancelled while roads and railways are blocked. Avoid the period between October and December, for a second monsoon filled with Northeastern rains pour heavy storms on the south of India (especially in the afternoons and nights after days of muggy heat).
