India has three main seasons: winter, summer and the monsoon season.
Winter or the dry season, from October to March is the best period with dry and bright weather. Temperatures vary between 15 to 20°C. Nights could be cold, between 5 to 9°C, from November to February.
In summer from March to the end of May, the heat is scorching and can easily reach 50°C in the Rajasthan. Towards the end of May and early June, the first signs of the monsoon set in along with a high level of humidity and short and violent storms rage.
The monsoon lasts until September ending with heavy rains and low temperatures. Generally try to avoid this period, as you will encounter serious difficulties travelling. It is not rare to find flights cancelled and roads and railways cut off.
