Irrigated farming

Irrigated farming

Historically, Punjab in Sanskrit "panch-ab", means five rivers. This region in Central Asia or the country of five rivers is effectively showered by five rivers, all flowing from the Indus: Jhelam, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and Beas. Today, only the last two flow into India, between India and Paksitan since the partition of 1947. Immense and flat areas are irrigated farmland growing rice, cotton, sugar cane, tobacco and, especially wheat used to make different types of bread.
