Return to the Indian Museum, at the angle of Sudder street and Chowringhee road (Nehru road), the largest museum in India. Its vast halls carry meteorites, fossilized skeletons of unique prehistoric animals, including crocodiles, a giant tortoise, and Buddhist and Brahmanic sculptures and bronze statues.
Go down Chowringhee road, and on Cathedral road, the fines arts Academy that often exhibits paintings, miniatures and performs shows.
To the south of the Alipore Zoo, you can visit the National Library, the biggest library in India set up in the former residence of the viceroy of India.
Go across Maidan and to the north of Marble Palace, Tagore House is a cultural centre of Indian arts in the birthplace of the Indian poet Tagore.
