Chennai offers a journey into the very depths of the culture and history of India. Archeology, ethnology, cinema... There is something for everyone.

Tradition
Visit the Government Museum and its extensions in the Egmore neighbourhood, close to the Pantheon Road. It holds several types of collections: ethnological, archeological, paintings, bronzeware and ancient manuscripts.

Military
Close to Georgetown, to the north-east of the city, delve into the english colonial military relics and its manuscripts at the Fort Museum. The Banquet Hall displays a gallery of portraits of governors and other British personalities of Madras.

Music and dancing
Retreat into one of the concert halls at Nungambakkam, the Valluvar Kottam auditorium, a modern replica of the Tiruvarur charriot-temple. Slightly further, you can discover the music Academy, the musical showcase of Madras. Do not miss the festival from mid-December to January. In the south, cross the Adayar River to the Kalakshetra classical ballet and music school.

Cinema
Close to the Saint George cathedral on Anna Salai, request to visit the Gemini film studios. Otherwise, on the streets you can admire the impressive film posters with bright colours lit up at night. Delve into the darkness of a film hall at Anna Salai Avenue.
