The palaces of Jaipur

The palaces of Jaipur The Hawa Mahal Palace, Jaipur, India Built in 1799 to house the courtesans, this pink building is also called the palace of the winds. Martin Siepmann/ age fotostock

Amongst the most renowned palaces, you have the famous Wind Palace that earned the city the nickname "pink city". However, you can also choose to spend the night at the Rambagh Palace of Jaipur. This former hunting ground belonging to Maharajah Madho Sinh II was the first palace to be transformed into a luxury hotel in 1957. Surrounded by immense lawns and a polo field, the palace was given an "Art deco" facelift in the 1920s.
