The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal The Taj Mahal, Rajasthan, India A palace made of pure marble, Jahan of Mughal had the Taj Mahal built for his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. It now constitutes one of the seven wonders of the world. Martin Siepmann/ age fotostock

Located in Agra on the banks of the Yamuna River, the Taj Mahal, meaning ' Palace of the Crown', is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The beauty of this all-white marble building goes far beyond mere appearances though. It was built as a symbol of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan's endless love for his sweetheart, Mumtaz Mahal.
The majestic Taj Mahal is synonymous with love and romance. The purity of its white marble and its exquisite precious stone embellishments make it one of the most popular places to visit in India.
