To the south of Chennai, the sculptures of the Mamallapuram temple by the seaside bring back memories of the daily lives of the people. Discover the features sculpted in the rock of the "Slopes of the Ganges" and the five chariot-temples as well as the monolithic monuments equally cut out on the rock. By the beach, admire the eroded temple that was started in the 7th century. Discover more of the site by visiting the school of sculpture of the Government School of Art and the stone-carver workshops of the village.
