Meander around the narrow alleys of the Old Town of Chowk. Watch out for cow dung. At Varanasi, the Indian sacred cow is absolutely everywhere. Early in the morning, you can go for a stroll by boat from the Dasahvamedha to the Manikamika Ghat, on the waters of the sacred Ganges. Enjoy the magical atmosphere and lighting. Bargain the price with the boatman before climbing on board.
