Tiruvanantapuram © Wilfried Louvet
Tiruvanantapuram is structured on a north-south main axis, the Mahatma Gandhi, also called M.G. Most of the capital's museums are located in the north. To visit the temples, go towards the south, at the end of M.G. and discover the Sri Padmanabhaswami Temple, a mixture of Dravidian and Keralite architecture from the 18th century. Even though entry is reserved for Hindus dressed in a dhoti or a sari, admire the gopurams outside (pyramid-shaped towers sculpted over seven floors); visit the nearby Kalaripayatt School to try martial art exercises and attend a performance at the Karthika Tirunal Theatre.
