Eilat

Eilat Eilat, Israel Eilat, the famous seaside resort city on the Red Sea, is home to the Coral Beach Underwater Reserve, where visitors can admire many species of coral and fish. © Ariel Fuchs

Eilat, along the Red Sea, is ideal for beach tourism. Famous for its seabed with its exceptional resources, divers come here from around the world. Its coral reef, which is the northernmost on the planet, stretches out over 3,935 ft along the west coast of the bay, in the south of the town. A mask, tuba and flippers are all you need to set out on a discovery of the treasures of the sub-marine nature reserve of Coral Beach. You will find some hundred species of corals, multicoloured fish (angelfish, parrot fish, clown fish, surgeon fish and blow fish) as well as moray eel, scorpion fish, skates and groupers. Equipment rental and diving lessons are provided on site. South of Coral Beach is the submarine observatory called Coral World, whose glass window, 23 ft deep, allows you to contemplate the coral floors. Finally, visit the Dolphin Reef (north of Coral Beach), where you can feed dolphins and even swim with them. Water sports, cruises and sailboat rental, with or without a skipper, are all offered on the beaches and at the marina of Eilat.
