The Armenian neighbourhood of the Old Town

The Armenian neighbourhood of the Old Town The old town, Jerusalem, Israel The walls of the St. James monastery are in the Armenian Quarter of the old town. Ralph Braumer / age fotostock;

The 12th century Saint James Cathedral is only open during afternoon mass (from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm) and it is the opportunity to be initiated in the wonderful Armenian liturgy. The Cathedral contains the shrine and tomb of David and a Gothic hall built inside the Franciscan monastery in which, according to tradition, the Last Supper took place. The venue also holds the tomb of the second Hebrew king.
