The old town, Jerusalem The Muslim Quarter abounds with monuments and sites symbolising the Jewish and Catholic religions. Ralph Braumer / age fotostock;
In the Muslim neighbourhood, discover Saint Anne Church, one of the most magnificent Frank buildings. Nearby, you will find the Esculape sanctuary and the Healing Pool where Jesus healed the paralytic. In 37 BC the ark of Ecce Homo, which belonged to the Antonia fortress, was built by Herod and it was where Pontius Pilate introduced Christ, crowned with thorns, to the Jewish people. If possible, try to visit the Our Lady of Zion convent where you will find an underground archeological site that holds vestiges from the Roman era, and pass by The Stations of the Cross (Via Dolorosa) which run from the Antonia to the Holy Sepulchre and form one of the most famous Christian pilgrimage sites.
