Take the road to Agrigento on the west coast to discover the numerous vestiges of the ancient city. They include the Valley of Temples that houses the sanctuaries dedicated to Juno, Hercules and Jupiter. Also travel to Eraclea Minoa, lying some 20 miles north of Agrigento. The city founded in the 6th century BC has preserved its magnificent theatre. Visit the site of Tyndaris lying some 25 miles west of Messina. There, you can admire the Casa Romana mosaics, take a stroll in the theatre overlooking the sea and visit the museum exhibiting an impressive collection of relics discovered on the site.
