The natural beauty of this region envied by so many others is what makes fans of skiing flock to Trentin-Haut-Adige in winter. The region is home to many holiday destinations, with something for all tastes: from smart and flashy Cortina (recently made a part of the Veneto region) to peaceful Cavalese, and the more lively Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme, San Martino di Castrozza, and Madonna di Campiglio in between. Enthusiasts of backcountry skiing will be in their element: there is Cermis and Alpe di Siusi in the Trentino region, and Alta Badia and Alta Pusteria in the Bolzano region. You will also be able to choose from Brentonico, Folgaria, and Lavarone on the plateau, to join in on excursions in the snow or taste a few slices of the local cooked meats and a piece of 'tosella', a tasty, grilled mountain cheese.
