The landscape of Val Camonica covers some 50 miles along the Oglio River, from Ponte di Legno where it takes its source to Iseo Lake, where its waters mix with that of the fresh-water basin. Land of ancient origin, Val Camonica was originally populated by the Camuni, a peaceful hunting population who left traces of their heritage via their symbols and magic on over 170,000 rock paintings, now listed by the National Park of Cave Engravings. Almost the entire territory, full of rare flowers and animals that live out in the open, is protected by Adamello Park, which stretches up to Passo del Tonale whose snow-covered slopes are perfect for skiing.
