Muslim feasts - (dates vary according to the lunar calendar), the following dates are approximate:
December: Aid al-Adha or Aid al-Kebir. Celebrating Abraham's sacrifice (this feast is as important as Christmas is to Christians). This four-day feast also marks the period of accomplishment of the ?fifth pillar' of Islam, or pilgrimage in Mecca.
January: Ras as Sana/ Muslim New Year.
January: Ashura (mostly celebrated by the Shiites).
March: Mulid an-Nabi, anniversary of Prophet Muhammed.
October: start of Ramadan.
October: Aid al-Fitr or Aid as-Saghir. Celebrating the end of fasting of Ramadan.
