Aqaba, last checkpoint of the ?road of kings', found on the gulf named after it (facing Eilat in Israel) is the major seaside resort in Jordan. The wealth of its marine floor turned it into an international meeting point for diving lovers. The Red Sea offers fantastic coral beds, some of the most beautiful marine life in the world, with its myriad multicoloured fish. Do not miss the Yamanieh Reef, 6 miles south of Aqaba, a splendid and shallow coral reef discovered with a mask and tuba. Among the diving spots found less than an hour from the port of Aqada are the Power Station, First Bay and Aquarium. There you will find several diving stations (equipment, lessons, internships are available) appropriate for beginners as well as professionals.
