In the southwest of Almaty is the national Arts Museum wth its several Kazak painting and art-sculpture galleries from Russia and western Europe, and works of the Ukrainian painter and poet Tarass Shevshenko. Adjacent to the Panfilov park is the musical instrument Museum exhibiting traditional Kazak instruments. In the south, close to the presidential palace is the central national Museum relating the country's entire history
