 Climate and Seasons

Geographically, climatic variations are quite significant. In the west of the country the climate is hot and wet. Rain is distributed evenly throughout the year (light in June and heavy in April) and temperatures vary from 14-34°C. In the north, rain is very rare; there is virtually no rain in July and the temperature reaches almost 40°C. The centre and the south of the country have two dry seasons (from mid-December to mid-March, temperatures range between 14-28°C, then from June to October temperatures fall to between 9-23°C). The 'long' rainy season begins in March and the "short" season in November. On the coast, the climate is hot and wet. Temperatures range between 21-28°C from June to September and between 24-32°C from December to February (maximum sunshine in March and maximum rains in May, dropping progressively until July).
