The Maulidi Festival celebrates the birth of the prophet. This Muslim festival is organised in several parts of Kenya, but the best place to celebrate it is Lamu. For three days, a number of festive activities are organised, all of them as interesting as the other; the reading of the Koran, parades and sword dances. But careful to get the dates right, which depend on the lunar calendar.
