The museum apartments Formerly dubbed 'little Paris', Riga is characterised by a large number of buildings in the Art Nouveau style, with characteristic decorations. Carlos Rodrigues / Easyvoyage
The museum-apartments that appeared in the 60-70's are one of Latvia's cultural wonders and an attempt at preserving intellectual and artistic heritage. One of the most famous museum-apartments belongs to Krisjanis Barons, leader of the young Latvian movement and a relentless collector of Daïnas. Another museum-apartment in Riga's centre, which belongs to Andreï Oupite (1877-1970) the 'Latvian Zola', leaves visitors with the sensation that the writer has only just gone out. Two other museum-apartments relate Lenin's arrival to the capital.
