Macedonian icons are among the most famous icons in the world. The most ancient wooden icons date back the end of the 10th century and clay icons from Vinicko Kale, near Vinica, are rare illustrations of Christian art of the end of the 4th century to the middle of the 6th century. The thirty icons of Ohrid, exhibited in Saint-Clement's church, date back 11th and 18th centuries. They are all truly figurative gems. The most precious are the double icons decorated with finely chiselled silver frames. The "Annunciation" is the most amazing work of this collection.
