Saint-Naum monastery, 18 miles away from Ohrid and close to the Albanian border, rises on a rock jutting out over the lake. This is where lived and rests Saint-Naum, a famous disciple of the first masters of Slavish christianism. The structures of the monastary and church vary enormously due to the multiple transformations undergone in the last ten centuries. A thousand-year old marble pillars on which are engraved indecipherable inscriptions made this site famous.
