There are two seasons. The dry season is in May-October (winter). The climate on the high plateaus is quite cold and sometimes freezing at night. Temperatures are mild on the rest of the island. Humid climate in the east and semi-desert in the south and west. The southern region is hit by drought.
From November to April, it is the rainy season (summer). There are storms at the end of the day on the high plateaus. Risks of cyclones on the eastern coast from December to March. Moderate rainfall in the south and west. Scorching heat in January-March.
Temperatures in Antananarivo:
January: minimum 16°C and maximum 25°C
August: minimum 10°C and maximum 20°C.
Toliara (Tulear):
January: minimum 23°C and maximum 32°C
August: minimum 14°C and maximum 28°C.
Toamasima:
January: minimum 23°C and maximum 30°C
August: minimum 18°C and maximum 24°C.
