Liwonde national park is 127 miles south of Lilongwe. It is well-kept and home to several wild animals. Found in the south of the country, it surrounds part of lake Malombe and river Chire. Hundreds of elephants, several species of antelopes and a few rhinoceroses live in the park. River Chire shelters thousands of crocodiles and hippopotamuses.
