Mount Mulanje peaks 180 miles south-east of Lilongwe. The country's highest mountain is Sapitwa whose summit is 3 002 m above sealevel. The site is ideal for hikers. The summits jut out from the thick fog, which is why they are called "sky islands". Sudden temperature drops, rain and poor visibility are common thoughout the year.
