Nyika national park, 34 miles north of Mzuzu, is famous for its rich flora including its 120 varieties of orchids. There are antelopes, zebras, warthongs, blue monkeys and over 250 species of birds. It is forbidden to go into the park on foot: visitors must travel via bus or car. Once inside, you can walk around, but all visitors must be accompanied by a ranger. Alternatively, for those who would like a closer look at the animals, riding on a horse is possible.
