Cameron Highlands is 185 miles north of Kuala Lumpur. After a winding road dotted with real "kampong" inhabited by aborigenes, you get to the most popular and superb mountain resort in Malaysia. One third of the site is ground and two thirds is covered with tea plantations.
Cameron Highlands are 4,920 feet above the sea. This is why the climate is mild, varying between 10 and 25 degrees depending ont the time of day. These mountains are named after William Cameron, a British coloniser. He discovered the area in 1885 on an expedition. He then decided to grow foodstuffs, notably have tea plantations. This is the highest tea producing region in Malaysia today.
