Traditions and customs
Do not be surprised to see a young child offring a pinch of salt to a guest during meal. This is a traditional Malay ritual before eating, reviving the mouth by putting the salt on the tip of the tongue.
Animist beliefs still exist in Malaysia. Inhabitants fear the Hantu witch who lives everywhere and can attack everyone. She can cause people to fall or fail and those affected by her evil eye immediately consult a shaman.
