Georgetown, capital of Penang island, is worth a stopover thanks to its Chinese neighbourhood and the Indian section (Chinese and Indian temples). The colonial section can be visited on foot from the clock tower via Jalan Tun Syed Shek Barakbah to view the sea, to the Esplanade, a vast area marking the entrance to Fort Cornwallis.
