From Kedah to Johor via Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia is composed of 13 states and three federal territories. So much of the landscape is worth the 13 or so hours flying time from the UK. Amongst other things, we had the pleasure of visiting many of the hotels on the touristic islands of Penang and Langkawi, which were once simply an obligatory passage along the Strait of Malacca. Today they have become popular beach resorts and anyone who is looking to spend some time just lazing around should know that the beaches in Langkawi are more pleasant than those in Panang, whilst this latter would suit those after monuments and excursions.
