Local handicraft has beautiful original objects like batiks, simple fabrics or printed garments and sarongs worn round the waste. They are found everywhere, but mostly in the east coast. If you do not mind being overloaded on your return, go for these wonderful kites you'll find in the Kota Bharu region. The Malay kris, sort of ridged serpentine blade, is sold new or old in antic shops or other shops. Several pewter objects, figurines or vases are sold in the State of Perak where you have the major deposits. Shops open Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM.
