The Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur Their structure is reminiscent of motifs seen in Islamic art, and until 2005 they were the highest construction in the world. © Ingo Jezierski / age fotostock
The Petronas Towers were built in 1993 by an American architect. They are each 1,480 feet tall and made up of 88 floors each. The number is fortuitous given that the figure 8 stands for luck. The Chinese are so superstitious!!! These towers are the highest in the city of Kuala Lumpur. They are gigantic and are even more impressive at night: once lighted, they offer an unprecedented display, a blend of gold and silver shades.
At the foot of these towers lies the business district of Suria KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre). This area brings together on six floors, most of the western brands as well as catering facilities. Nearby, an open air public swimming pool is surrounded by a lush park.
