Souvenirs and handcraft Mali

Mali is known for its handicrafts. Fulani crafts include wool and cotton blankets, sheepskin hats and various types of copper, silver and gold jewellery. Tuaregs are specialists in arms manufacturing, but also make elegant silver jewellery and chests and coloured boxes from tooled leather. The specialties of Dogon craftmen are sculpted doors, statues and masks for rituals. Segu craftsmen are famous for terracotta pottery, the Bambaras and the Senufos are known for their wooden statues and masks. This regional diversity is grouped at the centre of some markets, notably Bamako's craft market. Shops open from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM from Monday to Saturday.
