Woven in the West African countries, Bogolan is a traditional fabric inseparable from Mali, which is made according to a centuries-old, natural technique. In the past, every Bogolan was unique because the symbols displayed by patterns, often ideograms, represented the owner of the fabric. Today, it is back in fashion, in the country and beyond its borders, thanks to the creativity of the stylists of the new generation. The national museum is one of Mali's most exhaustive exhibition places if you want to learn about textiles. 7,500 sq ft is dedicated to the exhibition of pieces dating from as early as the 11th century to today. The great diversity of matters and techniques used in Mali are presented.
