The small island of Comino (just over 1 miČ) is ideal for swimming. Its extraordinary blue lagoon looks like a vast turquoise swimming pool and has nothing to envy of the southern seas. From Sliema (on the island of Malta), launches are used for excursions during the day. However, it is worthwhile staying a few days to take full advantage of the beaches of Santa Marija or San Niklaw. Do be sure to book accommodation beforehand though, as the hotels on Comino island are always full in the high season.
