Airports

Majuro international airport is located on the small island of Dalap, in the Capital city. Buses, taxis or hotel shuttles allow you to reach several places on the atoll.

A passport valid for more than 6 months and a return ticket are necessary. A visa (mandatory) is issued at the airport, upon arrival. The cost is about £16 for a three-month tourist visa and £35 for a business visa. Extension of your visa is possible once in the country.

The local currency is the United States Dollar (USD). Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) as well as travellers cheques drawn up in Dollars are very widely accepted. In certain places, you can pay directly with travellers cheques without any transaction fees (American Express recommended).
Banks are found in the main tourist areas and are open from Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Domestic flights on Air Marshall Island airline serve 10 of the archipelago's atolls. For small distances, you can rent a boat by going through hotels or speaking directly to boat owners (this is cheaper).
The main islands of Majuro atoll are linked together by a main road. Taxi shuttles are the easiest, they are the fastest and cheapest way to move around the atoll (30p-£1.80). There are also minibuses.
Another option is to rent a car on Majuro Island at an affordable price. A domestic driving license is enough for a period of 30 days. Beyond that, you will need an international driving license. People drive on the right.

No particular vaccination is required upon entry into the territory, except if you are coming from an area infected by cholera or yellow fever. Vaccinations against poliomyelitis, tetanus, typhoid fever, and hepatitis A and B are recommended. No malaria.
Water and food are healthy.
Although there is a public hospital and a private clinic in Majuro, as well as health centres on most islands, it is recommended to subscribe to medical repatriation insurance.
