 Climate and Seasons

Martinique's climate is tropical, tempered by the trade wind. From December to May, it is hot, dry and the average temperature comes close to 30°C. This period of time is called 'Careme' (Lent).
The second season, 'Hivernage' ('Wintering'), or rain season stretches from June to November. Much more humid, it is also cooler (average temperature: 22°C) and is characterized by a risk of cyclone.
In the north, in the mountains, the climate is cooler and rainy.
