Martinique was rightly nicknamed the ?Flower Island' by its first dwellers. White, red, yellow, all the colours you can ever think of are sumptuously displayed here. Along the side of the roads, shrubs spread their little red flowers - these are the Poincianas. You also find the white flowered frangipani and yellow cassias. As you go higher in altitude, you will see more and more wild plantains and wild orchids.
