To see
Apart from Mount Pelee which is obviously unmissable, you can discover with pleasure the inside of Martinique, including Fund Saint-Denis, the greenest town on the island, irresistible for its botanical charm. 450 meters above sea level, the land will surprise you by its red colour, this is the town of Morne-Rouge which clings to the foothills of Mount Pelée. The hike of the Fisherman to the Grand River or to Mount Pelée from the Grand River : the tourist office can offer you many more hikes of varying lengths with different levels of difficulty. We offer you a 2-hour hike along the road to Charmeuse before the village. Then you climb up the parking lot of Great Savane. You will cross dry vegetation, then a savannah of varying altitudes made of ferns and shrubs. You will find at Mount Pelée, on the side of the third refuge, discovering a clean sweep vegetation. From there, there is still an hour's walk to the summit.
The more courageous can also access Mount Pelée by the Morne de l'Aileron following the beacons. The hike takes some 4 hours. By the D39, the road on the left crossing the town, up to the parking lot (big drop at the beginning). The trail is a series of high steps.
