The Trois-Ilets The Trois-Ilets is one of the market towns here to have held onto its authenticity and undeniable charm in a very touristy area. Vladimira Dvorakova / age fotostock;
Located on the other side of the bay of Fort-de-France, on the west coast of Martinique, Trois-Ilets has the largest number of hotels on the island. It is a particularly lively sea resort which has, as well as the close by beaches of Anse Mitan and Anse à l'Ane, every shop and restaurant you need and even a small and traditional Creole village which itself has a few shops. So you can go shopping there, as well as many other activities (including golf). There are regular sea shuttles to Fort-de-France; Trois-Ilets is the only place on the island where you will not need a car. This is where Josephine de Beauharnais was born, at Domaine de la Pagerie. Transformed into a museum, her house recounts the life of Napoleon I's wife.
