Normally, the country's climate resembles the arid West Sahara; it rarely rains and temperatures can reach up to 50°C in the shade. Where you will find a desert climate in the north, the south benefits from the seasonal humidity of the Sahelian regions. From June to September, a temperate climate alternates between the warm and the rainy seasons, sometimes punctuated by sweeping sand storms. The most appropriate time to visit the country is between the months of November and March when temperatures are moderate: around 21 to 25°C by day and 10°C by night. The harmattan - warm and dry wind - often blows towards the end of the year.
